Sandri Arcangelo

At the end of the 1970s, the Sandri family, passionate farmers over several generations, began making wine from grapes from small, owner-run vineyards on the slopes of Faedo with skilful dedication. The estate, at the top of the village of Faedo, is now run by Arcangelo assisted by his two daughters, winemakers Nadia and Sonia, and his wife, Silvana.

The Faedo area, rightly considered the pearl of Trentino wine making, encompasses different types of terrain suitable for cultivating both white and red grape varieties.

The Sandri Arcangelo estate grows and makes wine from three red grape varieties, Schiava, Lagrein and Pinot Nero, and five white varieties, Chardonnay, Traminer Aromatico, Goldtraminer, Kerner and Müller Thurgau.

Lower down, at about 350 metres above sea level, they grow Traminer, Chardonnay, Goldtraminer, Pinot Nero, Schiava and Lagrein grapes. This is the warmest part of Faedo and the soil has the highest clay content, ideal characteristics for the production of both red wines and well-structured whites.

The higher areas, at about 600m asl, are perfect for growing Müller Thurgau and Kerner. This higher altitude and the consequent slower maturation of the grapes are the main factors giving them their typical fresh, aromatic characteristics. The estate’s principal aim is to produce wines that are the expression of the terroir.
